Best Post processing software?

I dont suppose you know how to re-dock the"tabs" or whatever theyre called do you?

Like I movee things around so the navigator is top right and the other things underneath it and I want to reconnect them back together as they were in the beginning but in my new layout

All on the page I quoted. Download the free trial and go from there,

Cheers,
Dougie.

Doesn't seem to cover what I am looking for, Il keep playing around with it.

Complicating things here. If you're a bit techy you could find these settings in the windows registry. You could highlight that section, save to disk then reload.

I'm using the latest Mac Mini with all my PP software now but I'm sure if you search your registry for Affinity, you'll find what you're looking for.

p.s. (Right Click the start button, select run - regedit) - Enter.

Then Menu - Edit- -Search. Affinity - (ignore case?) - Open up each branch.

Cheers,

Dougie

I own and have tried many different post processing programs, but still often find Photoshop Elements does all I need
Adobe Camera Raw gives an excellent conversion and then the main software provides adequate tools for further editing
Lightroom is undoubtedly the best for cataloguing and printing, but PSE works well as a plug in with LR
Thinking of just updating to standalone PSE 2020 and using it with my LR6 perpetual version

No subscription fees and everything contained within one program for 70 quid
A few plugins like Canon Studio pro and the free Nik collection are also there when needed

No one here has mentioned Photoshop Elements. I too am a digital novice and didn't want to make commitments without learning some basics. PSE at a one-time $60 (black friday) price seemed reasonable for an introductory experience. I've been using it now for 6 months. I find new weaknesses every day, Stuff I wish it had or did better. Still, I've decided to postpone any upgrades. The cost/benefit analysis doesn't offer enough value for the way I work.

Here's a little more detail on that analysis.

I’ve used Photoshop Elements for the past ten years or so, upgrading every 2-3 years. Never felt the need to get the full version. I am also using xnView, the free viewer and catalog software. Ocassionaly I used Nik’s free plugins (they used to be free and I kept a copy). I recently downloaded the free (yes, I like free stuff...) Luminar 3, but I only use it occasionally.
Adobe deliberately cripple Elements so that it does not pose a threat to the full Photoshop.
The deal breaker for me (other than it being Adobe) is Elements inability to handle 16-bit layers.

Don't like Elements? Stick around, there'll be a new version along in a few minutes...

I decided to go with Affinity, it seems to do everything I need currently and without having to rent software so I am very happy. Maybe in the future I may move to another option maybe that has a higher price tag if needed.

As you mentioned Nikon raw files in another thread, you might want to supplement Affinity with one of Nikon's own free raw converters. I use Affinity (or an old copy of Photoshop) in combination with Capture NX-D, which is the more sophisticated of their two packages:

https://nikonimglib.com/nvnxi/

I think NX-D does a better job with NEFs than most third party converters. Both Capture NX-D and ViewNX-i include nice image browsers, which Affinity lacks.

I downloaded free trial of Affinity but it won't install, keeps saying set-up failed ! Win 10 PC
Anyone else had this?

Being a newbie I purchased an older copy of Lightroom 5 and Photoshop Elements on ebay for less then £100. Both came with installation CD and licence keys which are working fine. I will worry about the newer rental options if and when I exhaust the features of my older versions.

For Raw processing, Capture One is the best we have tried.

For image editing, Photoshop is King

Never used the trial version, but never had any problems installing the full version on W10. You might want to post on their own forums with the exact error message. They also have a FAQ for this:

I actually downloaded the previous version and it installed ok- keeps trying to get me to update though!
Do people think this is better than PSE ( 13) ? Early days for me but I think I prefer the UI so far
