Thank-You! I think the truth is that the absolute focus point is on the leading edge of the wing, slightly nearer the camera than the birds eye. It could theoretically improve with a bit more space, but the close crop is my style as I only really want to see the bird rather than being 'arty'. I have to admit to being very happy with it (along with many people I actually know), so I suppose that's what matters.
