No
This is a female and she is 16 cm or six inches long. I found her on my lawn yesterday and escorted her to thicker foliage. Out in the open she could have been taken by a Motmot or stung by a Tarantula hawk wasp both ending in death, one quick and the other very slow.

What a beast!
She makes the 'large' spider I had to get out the house the other day seem a bit pathetic.

They can bite and supposedly it is quite painful but only if you try to handle them. No I would say the insects here abouts are pretty much of normal size.

Although the centipedes and harvestmen are a lot bigger than you will find in the UK. I saw at 10 cm long centipede in Cali recently - I got a photo which I will process when I get to it.
Here is an example of a harvestman I saw a couple of years ago (those leaves are not on a bonsai)

If you spend any time at night in a cloud forest you should see them. Santuario de Otun near Pereira is great but Finca Alejandria near Cali is ok but sadly you can't stay at night there any more. Are you from Colombia or did you move there from somewhere else out of interest?
