Bird ID please

These birds were on the cable then they flew around in a kind of murmuration, then back on the cable. I think one of my photos shows glimps of yellow under the wings.

Just a thought bearing in mind TP is kind of international....

Which country taken and whereabouts in that country you saw them will help to ID it from such a description?

Several individuals show a large yellow patch on the top of the wings which suggests goldfinch, but is difficult to be sure from this.

I agree that a location would be useful.

It was taken in Gloucestershire, UK. I wish I could have got closer, & had my DSLR & telephoto lens with me, but I only had my small camera.

Looks like Goldfinches to me, based on the yellow patches seen on some of the wing primaries.

Thanks, that was our first thought, but we thought they looked bigger than Goldfinches. However you are probably right.
