Birkenau - the end of the line...

One of my shots from Birkenau in Poland taken on Wednesday of last week. These beautiful flowers were placed at the very end of the rail track by a group of school children from Norway. One of the children stood in front of her group and sang a song that I shall never forget - even now just remembering her performance brings a tear to my eye. Such a powerful and emotionally draining place but somewhere that everyone should visit at least once in their lives.

What I like best is the symbolism in the placement of the flowers and how the lines point down the track.

Like also the stark contrast between the B&W and use of color.
