In the field behind my house lives a black rabbit. I've never seen two, only the one plus many "normal" coloured rabbits. It seems to be a loner because, whenever it runs towards any other rabbit to play/chase like the others do, they always run away from it!

Are these black rabbits common, and I wonder if the foxes that roam the field cannot see them as clearly in the evening?

I see them regularly round here Russ and always have done.

When we went rabbiting as kids, if we caught a black one we'd let it go...............no idea why

Cheers Phil :)

- another sign of your mis-spent youth, Eh Phil? :p

Rabbit = tasty ;).......and a sign I must be turning into a softy in me old age Russ, I now like to see them running round the field out back of our house!

As an ex-gamekeeper I can tell you these are very common Russ.

I've seen Ginger ones around my patch
