What settings and lens did you use? I do like the idea behind the image, just wish you had used a wider aperture to lose more of the background, that pram really distracts me and draws my eye away from the main subjects. If a wider aperture wasn't a possibility then perhaps you could have gone for a tighter crop.
Love the B&W which supports the idea of the 'bleakness' of the image....but (and this is just my personal opinion) you've massively over-processed the image, making it look unnatural...softer tones would have been really nice here.

Fair points guv, loving that second image that you've softened down and now the harsh processing is taken away for some reason I'm not so distracted by the background, in fact it compliments it more.
