Some taken at an Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary

Sports Mode, 1/1000, f5.0, iso6400 - the only processing I've done is an edge preserving smooth to reduce some of the noise. (A consequence of the high iso speed.)

Edit: I've re-PP this 1st image, as it was still showing signs of noise...

They do have amazing eyes, especially if you manage to get them infocus, or the bird doesn't decide to it's cross-eyed owl impression...

Beautiful set of a beautiful bird, lovely and sharp on those stunning eyes.
 
Thanks Steve, it was hard to capture a good shot in the viewing area as he wouldn't keep still... or I got shots like number 2
