Bournemouth pier is unreal

Worth trying a Focus Stack, to get the foreground sharp?
I think it would look even more impressive if it were sharp from front to back.

Personally, I think I'd also bring the contrast up a little.

Thanks Brian. The focus-stack idea is interesting, and one that might be explored in future. I wonder how that would affect the sense of the ground being very close, and how it would affect the sense of distance from the lead lines.

I'm not sure about increasing contrast. This went through a lot of iterations, and it was hard to balance out the areas of light and shade with the couple actually walking in fairly deep shadow, plus I was looking for ways to reduce the busyness of a slightly complex set of shapes, and rolling shadow out of the image to reduce the range of tones seemed to help. Original mono conversion below - tell me if you prefer that?

Having seen the original I'd like to commend you on your treatment of a difficult subject, particularly making the couple stand out from the background.
On balance I prefer your final version, and I'm now not so sure about my remark regarding the contrast.
