An easy one to identify with its bright red feet. Taken during my tour in Costa Rica last week.

Thanks for looking...

Superb work Des, perfect choice mix of shutter speed and flash work - works brilliantly for this subject

Mike
Cheers, Mike, but no flash was used. Experimented with different shutter speed to get the desired affect.

1/125th, f7.1, ISO1100, 500mm. We did photograph a couple of dart frogs but not had time to look through yet as will be heading out to the rainforest again shortly... this time in Asia.

Stunning image, and I'm very jealous. I saw a few of these when I was there a few weeks ago and I couldn't even manage a half decent shot.

Did you go on a dedicated photo tour? Often that is the fundamental difference between a wildlife watching / standard / self-organised tour and one that is designed with photography in mind. The latter will not only comes with instructions but also carefully chosen locations.

Disclaimer: I run wildlife photography tours and Costa Rica is one of the locations.

@dragonfly It was a "standard" tour. While the other half likes wildlife orientated holidays, a dedicated photography tour would be a step to far; and while I appreciate the limitations of not going on specialist tours it doesn't make me any less envious of that image.

Cheers, Paul, understood. I guess my point is that it is entirely possible to attain this image with some dedicated time and help. When travelling with my dearest or family, I don't take any of my work gear at all - not even a decent compact or small camera system. All my attention is on them and the memories we make. When I'm on tours, it's all about image making with my guests with no distractions. In my experience, it is rare that one can achieve both goals satisfactorily, together.
