Wishing everybody on the forum a very Happy New Year :)

I've just treated myself to a Sony Nex-5n (as nobody else would!) and am really enjoying it so far, especially it's low light ability.
Here are some photo's of Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol that I took a few nights ago - all comments welcome:

I like the composition and dramatic lighting in these but find them a bit disembodied.

Think they would be stronger if taken with just a bit of light in the sky to give a suggestion of the landscape that is bridged over.

Many thanks for that doghouse - I was unsure whether it would detract from the architecture if there was too much cloud, even though with the photo's posted it was just a cloudless night so that solved that dilemna. Here's one that I personally like and taken a day or so before:

Hi Click,

Like that but it was more the landscape. In image 2 in particular the left pier kind of floats in the black. It would be nice to have a little more of what its resting on.

Lucky you, living near this bridge, could spend many happy hours photographing it.

Hi Doghouse,

Yes, it's a lovely part of the country, but having lived in Edinburgh and Fife for a few years (and loved it), I think I should be more envious of you!

I see your point re. photo 2, maybe I can highlight the rock it's on without lightening the whole image too much...must learn more how to work in Photoshop.
