I think they have Rolls Royce engines that’s why the exhaust manifolds are different. I believe it’s because Spain couldn’t get the original engines after the war.
Steve, It is a Spanish licence built 109 which was fitted with a Merlin and operated post war by the Spanish airforce, these aircraft are the ones used in the film the Battle of Britain and given to the late Connie Edwards as part payment for his work on the film, they were all sold several years ago by Connie and several have been brought back to airworthiness in the UK, most retaining the film colours, I will post the other soon showing its original film scheme. Several of the "Genuine" 109's you see flying today are Buchon's that have been re-engined with the DB601 that the Germans used in theirs.
