I have a confession . The last two were shot by my wife. I was just looking up the settings and noticed the 700D. Shamefull of me stealing her lime light, but she's in the kitchen, she won't know Yes i would have thought with the flash on the back ground would have been black, or the back ground is closer than it appears.

how did you get the first shot

Sat on the bank of a small brook watching the male patrolling his space. After a while you can anticipate where they turn and stop. Sometimes they stop for a second or 2 which gives you a chance to focus. 9 times out of 10 ill turn the focus ring the wrong way and the DF has gone, but on this occasion i got him I find manual focus easier than AF doing this folllowing the DF through the eye piece. By the way this is a Green Eyed Hawker
