Morning All!
Had a great day at Burghley for the cross country yesterday
First thing - hats off to those of you that photograph these events for a living, it was definitely a challenge: bright sunshine, white fences and different coloured horses!
Overall, I'm pleased with these as a first attempt at horses and riders in action, and for memories of the day
If any of you have any critique, or tips on how to approach this and improve in the future, I'd be really pleased to hear it - I'm here to learn, so go for it!
I think my main mistake was underexposing for the darker coloured horses, in an effort to not have too much blown white... You can't have it all, but I think I could have chosen better
Some quite heavy cropping too, due to distance from the fences...
All shot on a Nikon D700 with an 80-200mm f2.8 lens...
My favourite one is of Andrew Nicholson, making it all look easy, just wish the horse's ears were forward
1.) ISO 800, f5.6, 1/2000
2.) ISO 1000, f6.3, 1/1250
3.) ISO 800, f6.3, 1/800
4.) ISO 800, f7.1, 1/1600
5.) ISO 800, f6.3, 1/640
Thanks in advance for any pointers,
Lyndsey
