  3. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a long-standing member, Just Dave.

Dave Barker was a member of Talk Photography for nearly 10 years, and was a prominent member for most of those.
A very warm, friendly and enthusiastic member, he spent the largest portion of his time on TP welcoming and helping others.

I'm sure all visitors to this site will join us in thanking Dave for his unwavering support and being a large part of our community.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at such a difficult time.

I'm in the middle of a conversation with one member. I'd like to bring someone else into it but can't find a way to do it. At least I can't do it on my phone.
Is it possible to add members to an existing conversation?

Yep.... just type '@' <username> without quotes or space! (Can't be bothered to sort out the escape characters)

They will receive a notification - ignore or join in, their choice!

ETA - just realised you get a pop-up to link which may not happen on a phone.

Thank you. I didn't think you could tag members in conversations.
    Excellent.

Ah well. Tagging members in a conversation doesn't work. The tagged member doesn't get any notification, and remains out of the conversation.
Any one got any other ideas?

That only seems to work for the originator of the conversation.
I was a recipient and trying to reply to the originator and a member who was not in the original conversation.
The invite box isn't showing for me on my reply.

I don't see 'invite more' anywhere. Originator only ... I see now.

Yes it seems only the originator can do that.
Could we ask for a change to be made so recipients can do so as well?

When someone starts a conversation, there is a box to check that allows anyone to invite others, guessing it wasn't checked in your case Frank.

Well in this day and age nothing that smart ar$e lawyers dream up would surprise me.
But I received an invite for a day out toggling. I thought someone else might like to come along.
That's hardly in the Trump/Putin league is it?

Thanks Fabs. Would you think that many use that box? Not many seem to know it exists.

Of course not, just that I can see that it could be abused. :)

That's where the report button would come into play. Chances of abuse that way must be slim, musn't they????

Well at least it's the originator who makes the decision to allow or not allow.

True, but how many PMs are started without some form of relationship existing in advance? If you don't trust someone why would you be talking to them?

Why not start a fresh conversation, well that is copy and paste the original, into your conversation, with who ever it was, originally, and reply to that,
adding in who ever it is you want to include?

Yes I finished up doing that but it would be a lot simpler if I could just have added him in. Now we have two conversations, one of which has several replies before the decision to invite a third party was taken. Difficult to copy and paste all those.

Purely because l will always answer a message, but sometimes, as with sales/freebies they can contain info you don't want shared.
In your case, if l invited someone to come out for a photo shoot of local wildlife, say badger setts and such, l personally would like to have the
option of who was allowed to join us.
Some places l go are on private land so permission to bring visitors is required

It's by design. I can change the code to auto-tick that box so it allows anyone to invite others by default. However, that opens it up too much to abuse.
The starter of the conversation owns the conversation. By ticking that box, they are allowing you to invite others. The starter is in control, and it should be that way.
