Conditions looked good on Sunday night and the forecast predicted a gap in the clouds at dawn. So it was a trip to the hills first thing !

We took the path up from behind the Pen y Gwryd hotel. The first 15 minutes is the worst part as you have to navigate through the bog. Once you hit the path then it's just a case of head down and get on with it.

We arrived around 15 minutes before sunrise so it gave me plenty of time to figure out some vantage points.

The Panoramic was taken using the 24mm T&S lens and Lee grad ND filters

Just awesome, especially the first image. It's one of the best I have seen on this forum in a long time. I would be well happy with that and be printing it large.

Highlights in the sky of the second feel a tad over tamed for me but the composition and scale of the shot is still great. Added shots are very nice too.

OMG Rory my favorite place in the UK! The Glyderau and the Glyders. This is truly Photography Porn for me!
You can do no wrong! Stunning Work BTW. You have really done them justice (y)

The second in the OP is my kind of picture, ticks all the boxes for me. I'd be tempted to crop in from the left and the bottom of the first (similar to the composition posted later but tighter) to focus attention towards the rocks stacks and mountains in the background. Don't think it needs the area to the left or much of the foreground but all very nice pictures.

Great video. He had some good shots there despite the weather. He did take the difficult route up to The Glydyrs though !

Very nice indeed, worth getting your head down and getting up there! I like numbers 1 and 3 in particular - well composed and everything came together with the view, clouds, snow and light

    Hi,

As this scene seems to be the favourite I had another look at the images taken. The original was at 140mm. This was at 115mm.

    Slightly less compression

2 stunning shots, I admit I am the odd one out (as usual!) and prefer the panoramic, the light and depth really work for me.
