Lovely shots Gary, great clean background as well. 1 & 8 are great.

Think I may have to try the D3 + 300mm + 1.4 combo sometime, looks to have worked really well. Must try photographing league sometime as well

Gary, do you use Custom WB or Auto?

Hi Alex, during the day usually AWB but if it's very cloudy I'll set a custom WB, just find it's a little better, under lights it depends on the lights coverage, the better the lights the more I'm inclined to use a custom WB, however some grounds lights throw a colour cast regardless of what I use so then it's a case of making domand trying to fix in post, can't emphasize the importance of a regularly calibrated monitor for this.

Excellent shots; really captures the feel of League. Reminds me of the Wigan motto: "its not the winning that matters, its the taking apart!"
