My wife bought a HP printer from Tesco for her work. Its got an ink subscription (15 sheets a month) I think.
I think it was only about £30.I think there are 3 colours and a black cartridge.
I would like to try and print an A4 photo to see the quality.
I have no photographic paper so was wondering where to start.
Can I buy a mixed pack of matt/gloss paper and if so, where can these be bought on-line or the high street?
Is there a particular brand or paper quality I need to consider?

If you want to PM me your address I'll pop a couple of sheets of each in the post.

I'd recommend avoiding cheap paper. You can end up with a bad print and blame the printer. Decent test packs from various different companies available here: https://www.on-linepaper.co.uk/test-packs-and-other-services/test-and-sample-packs If you're just testing the water, I'd start with Innova & Olmec. Fotospeed, Ilford & Permajet are mid-priced and Hahnemuhle, Canson & St Cuthberts are expensive.

Failing all that, the best low cost papers I've found are...

Matt:
Marrutt Archival Matt
Fotospeed Platinum Etching

Non-Matt:
Olmec Photo Metallic Lustre
Fotospeed Platinum Lustre

Hope that helps!

If you want a few sheets of Ilford, drop me a PM with your snail mail addy and I'll slip some in the post. Got a couple of other cheapish papers too but can't remember exactly what!

On its way, Jason.
