CLASSIC and important CARS - open thread:

Is that an Aristocat?

Is that an Aristocat?

nope it's a genuine Jaguar XK150 coupe

purchased from California when i lived in Vancouver
due to the climate in SoCal the body was rust free but interior was all cracked. LHD of course

the blue (I think) interior was replaced in red leather in Vancouver

brought back to UK with me - damp didn't suit it - sold to a lovely (!) young man from Holland and exported
.

Ah! I was going by the reg number.

Gorgeous car - bet you miss it (on days when you know it would run right!)

actually easier to DIY service than my Suzuki Swift..

luckily 2 lads from Jaguar set up shop in Vancouver - serviced regularly - NEVER failed to start
I even replaced the big end shells myself

And they're now fetching stupid money second hand!

To help pass the time during lockdown, I have been assembling a few of the U-Gears wooden models, one of which is of a Morgan +8. Powered by rubber bands and wound up using the spare wheel on the back. Under the opening bonnet is a V8 with moving pistons.

Had a Mk 1 "Frog Eye" many years ago - it was (and still is!) older than me. Just checked on the relevant site and it seems it still exists!

There are a few of them here, too. Always nice to see one ... ---
