Comet C/2020 F3 NEOWISE at 0318 BST this morning with the unexpected bonus of noctilucent clouds, a rather less than common event and one I've never knowing seen before (the clouds, that is, not a comet, although bright comets are quite rare). The comet is easily visible now in the north west quite low down from just before 0200 till the sky gets too light to see it. It is moving northwards and climbing so it will come into the evening sky, though still quite low. It may continue to brighten and the tail lengthen as it does so, but then again it might all just fizzle out again. Comets are unpredictable like that.
A bit of a rubbish shot IQ wise as I had to crank the iso and my camera does not like that. If I try again tonight I'll probably use the newer 800D which is a bit more forgiving on iso and use a f2.8 lens instead of a f5.6 lens, but there may be no noctilucent clouds.
Canon 550D on a fixed tripod, Canon 18-135mm lens, f5.6, 2 sec, iso 3200
