I'd allow for the fact that Kodiak will be on a properly calibrated monitor, but his edit completely removes detail from the head of the guy on the extreme left. Maybe somewhere between the 2 versions would work?

Right Peter, as he has a much darker skin than the
others… as always, I was trying to suggest, inspire
without spending too much time on details.

Somewhere between the 2 for me.
No1 has some milky shades and perhaps lacks a punch, No2 has excess contrast for me and has lost much detail in the shadows (doorways etc)
