Anyway took this on the beach at Camber Sands today

Either really!

It's an Ok'ish shot but could be improved on....I know none of this easy with a bridge type camera but it would have more impact if you fill the frame with the subject, also try getting lower and shooting towards it for more impact?

HTH and doesn't seem overly critical?

Thanks Gandhi a grab shot with the camera that is always in my pocket as I walked along the beach (the dslr was being kept safe from all them horrid sand granules), constructive comment always gratefully received

Agree with Ghandi - I'd have got down & dirty for a level head-shot if possible. It looks like a nice sharp image from the Sony so I'm sure it would have come out well. Get yeself back out there!!!
