I think the cold had affected this cranefly - it was originally skittering wingfully (?) across the ground right by the back door of the house, but after a minute or two, ended up near the compost bin area on the soil there. It's flight was pitifully painful looking - it could barely flap its wings and I doubt that it managed to get itself 2 inches in the air at any point.

Anyway, these were as it manoeuvred across the soil:

Doesn't look healthy wonder if a spider bit it before it got away :D

Very cool shots think #2 should be rotated 90 CW :D

Cheers m8 , it would work equally well that way.

Couple of good shots Paul, with some lovely detail.(y)

The little thing does look a bit sorrowful though.

Great capture paul, thought these had already died off. Saying that, I found a butterfly in the bedroom a few days ago. I guess as long as its protected and it warms up enough, it'll get active.
