Here's some photos from my recent trip up Crib Goch in snowdonia North Wales. they were shot on my mobile phone which is a Sony Xperia xz5 (think that's right).i did have a Sony a5000 but with strong winds and needing both hands most of the time it was easier to use my mobile. Thoughts please people 20190216_170711.jpegPSX_20190216_171332.jpegPSX_20190216_171826.jpeg

OMG! Dinosaurs still walked the earth when I did that and to this day it sends shivers down my spine. I have no photos. Mobiles hadn't been invented and I wasn't going to die trying to pull my camera out. Did make me giggle a bit when I was up there in 2015 and saw all the notices imploring folks not to do the ridge. Quite understand the MRTs point of view though. Now I'm looking at your pics thinking did I really do that?

Yeah it's abit hairy at times I done it a year ago in about 2-3foot of snow that was epic and my first time with crampons and axes

Really enjoy and the best bit both times I've done it in badish weather so it's always been really quiet

Another with memories.
Dont think I fancy it now being older and less "nimble" I'd probably fall off now.
Last time I did it, we did that, Cadair idris and Pen-y-fan back to back. But I was younger and very fit in those days.

Crikey, that frightens me and I'm sat in my armchair by the fire...
No2 for drama takes my biscuit.

I've got too admit I do find my hillwalking, scrambling and rock climbing relaxing usually but this day was not relaxing. It was still good fun and I will be going back again and again in the future. Cheers for taking the time to reply and look at the photos

I know what you mean. Scarey to look back on it, felt no fear then.
I wonder sometimes how I'm still here after some of my... adventures. When I was younger I honestly never expected to live past 45, I don't know why it was 45 but that was the number I figured I'd never pass. Last year was the 20th anniversay of my 45th birthday.
I've calmed down a bit now, I take a lot more care... now I duck when someone shoots at me.. :naughty:

A few times I've been climbing and the wind has picked up ans started pulling at me and I've said to myself what the f[emoji3517][emoji3517]k am doing this for then you finish the route and the views and thrill of finishing are worth it

I did the horseshoe in reverse with a mate, it was interesting going against the flow of walkers coming towards us, made all the more interesting when we reached the three lads from Manchester in their townie clothes and shoes, one of whom was totally freaked and unable to move - we "escorted" him off the ridge, then continued (against the flow again!). Not sure I could do that again now, that was a few birthdays ago :)

The hills are open for everyone which is great but some people are just muppets at least you got them off safe with no rescue needed

There's always a first time to be a muppet. I froze when I was last on it and yet I'd done it before with no problem and I had done a lot of hillwalking in Snowdonia including with crampons and ice axe. Had to give myself a good talking to, to get started again! I blame it on the people I was with who were very blazé and made me worried for their safety. You don't necessarily know beforehand what your limits are, but I know now.

I do a fair bit of rock climbing and I've had a few leg shaking moments where I question my sanity but concentrate and get on with it. It's the folk the go up hills with no extra food, water, wrong clothes and footwear it boogles my mind

Yep agree there are some foolish people who don't realise how dangerous the mountains can be and head off without any preparation. It came as a real shock to me that I should suddenly feel unable to move. Changed my life that day
