My better half and myself had a quick walk around our local country park at the weekend. We came across this lady and her lovely puppy. I instantly had the urge to take his photo, I asked and she was happy for me to try and get his a photo.
Anyways that's the waffle his name was Dexter and he is 3 months old.

As much as I like pano ratios for horizontal pictures,
— from 2:3 to 16:9 — I recommend my students to
use the 3:4, 4:5, or 1:1 for vertical images. These la-
ter ratios render more stable aspect, stronger compo-
sitional crops to the image they are applied to.

I love dogs… and this puppy one looks full of life and
ready to take the world. (y)

Are you saying the images should have been a bit wider (or less in height)?

For this image, I would suggest a 3:4 vertical
frame where the width would not change…
as you put it: "less in height".

You are correct grrrrr and you made me think what was wrong with a picture I gave away as a Christmas present (portrait orientation too).

Hi Daniel. I'm glad Charles asked the question as I too was struggling to grasp what you were trying to tell me. I get it now and I agree. I left it at the native ratio 2x3, the reason being for standard prints but after reading your reply 3x4 works for frame sizes too. Thanks for the tip,i'll try and remember that one :)
The first one is really nice, I agree with Daniel about the frame size. I think the second would have benefited a lower PoV similar to the first one.
Hi Ben
Yes I liked the first image too, also agree I could have been lower for that one, Dexter would have appeared much bigger than in reality, especially with that stance.
