This may split peoples opinions. I had a dog shoot a while back and have all the usual closeup, dogs playing etc etc when i spotted this lovely big tree. I wanted the dog small in the frame to show the size of the tree, so is this a landscape or dog image...Its different from all the others on that shoot hence i quite liked it.

Gramps i couldnt see any other composition for this particular shot. Trees either side along with a couple of bushes. If i moved closer/further away then the tree wouldnt have the same impact i dont think

but the fact there are only people under one half of the tree cancels the symmetry for me. I like the tree being central, it's a magnificent tree

Me too, except I wish it was dead centre instead of a bit off (must be my OCD kicking in).

Yip i love the tree but what annoys me most is the dog facing towards the iwners, woukd be vetter if the dog was dacing away from them. Need to try and figure out how to turn the dog in photoshop i think.

Really nice Mark, I'd like to see the trunk dead centre though, feels a little bit awkward in it's placement.

Yup, a very small crop off the right hand side would centralise the tree but doesn't improve the shot enough to warrant the effort IMO and the dog WAS facing the people so why turn it round in PP?
