Do star trails and milky way shots work in monochrome ?

Hi..... I sometimes go through a black & white phase and end up re-processing certain previously taken colour images into monochrome but I'm often sceptical about whether star trails and/or milky way images work well in black & white. Even if I personally like them at the time of re-processing I'm often sceptical about whether they work.

Here are a couple of examples. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This next one is probably a bit over-sharpened but it's adequate for the purposes of this question.

Thanks

I like star trails in mono and I've seen a lot nicely processed.

I admit I prefer the Milky Way in colour, part of the beauty is the soft colours of the gas clouds. The texture of a b&w is nice but I need those colours!!
