No
Not a serious shot as was just mucking about with a soft box on a speedlite before dinner last night but pretty happy as to the outcome.

But i think the background is a bit too black. I haven't got any backgrounds at all as i am usually out in the woods so this was just against a dark brown curtain and was only using one light. By the time i got another flash out my dog had had enough!!

Any pointers for next time?

Really?

I see in these that you did pretty well in terms of…
— wrapping your subject
— getting a correct exposure
— using DoF adequately
— avoiding excessive burnt areas
— coming to a well contrasted renditions.

Pointer…
Never ming the colour of the BG as it may be altered
in post production… which, in you case, is better than
having a black one you don't like. Doing so, you'll be
able to shoot until you can get the one you like!
