Mrs NS and Mr BJ permitting, Mrs L and I have booked a short break in April based at Isle of Whithorn. Any must-shoot locations to be recommended?

Whithorn itself and some of the cliff/coast walks are stunning. Great wildlife and some old ruins around. Same for Portpatrick.

The hills, waterfalls and lochs around Glen Trool are fabulous and should offer real interest. Above them Merrick is often good for plane photo's as they do an inverted turn over your head...

The coast road from Sandgreen around Borgue and on to Kirkcudbright offers real variety of landscape, and Kirkcudbright is lovely too.

That should also mean more time out the car on foot that having to go right back over to Kippford etc.

Raiders road and the otter pool

I’m delighted by the variety of suggestions, thank you. All we need now is permission from the relevant muppets politicians of our respective countries.

Grey Mares Tail and Loch Skeen, including feral goats, "near" Moffat.

Threave Castle, near Castle Douglas.
