Male Chaffinch showing incredible colour, as they do at this time of year.

I struggled with this one - the light levels went dire and I was getting 1/100th wide open with the 500mm. I got half a dozen shots off - all blurry as Hell except this one where the eye is sharp, and I quite like it.

Wren - obviously gathering food for the sprogs..

All at 800 ISO with the 40D and 500mm f4L

sparkling pictures as we've come to expect
love the detail in the chaffinch!

Fantastic shots as always CT (y)
The Male Chaffinch is a corker

Thanks Nigel. Set up and wait for 'em basically-camera on the tripod. I don't wait for them to land in frame, I can cover a fair bit of the garden with the gimbal head. There's more frantic activity than usual -no doubt due to the pressures of feeding young.

The Chaffinch and wren are stunning CT (y)
I am not quite so keen on the bue tit though
as the back end is a little blurry ( DOF or movement?)

Ok Your forgiven this time :D

Can you post just one of your "less than excellent" ones to show that even you take bad ones....

Superb as always.....(y)

All rather excellent

:notworthy:
