I had a lovely 697-mile round trip to photograph this first custom build just outside Penzance. Down on the Friday, then had the morning to shoot the bike for the magazine at a liesurely pace, I wasn't up too early after the ride down the following evening! I saw the staggered wall and thought it would create a bit of interest for him and his bike - everything on that bike he has built himself, including the wheels, with home made spokes. All the panel beating, fuel tank, frame, handlebars, mudguards, wheels - the brake drums and motor had to be machined to fit too.
I wanted to try to create that triangular shape, so we positioned th ebike and I got him to climb the wall so he was clear of the bike and the shadow formed the third 'party' of the group. In colour for the magazine, but being black and white with just brass, bronze and copper details it suits monochrome too.
We had to get some action shots too!
