    I'm in the process of trying this kind of shot, and imho ( which isn't worth jack) it's a nice image but it looks like the pink is a bit blotchy on the background. With my atemps a black background works well. All that said you've captured a nice pattern, I will be looking out for other images as you go along, not to cc but to see if I can pickup any tips.

    Much better than my first attempt(s).

    This was a tutorial I used.

    I prefer the lower part to be narrow IYSWIM.

    A few stray pink bits, I do like clean BGs.

    You've got the 3 key stages of the smoke effect here: smooth climb, rolling and chaos.
    You've identified the need for a clean background, I do find black suits my taste.
    Still, a great effort
