I heard this mentioned on the news and my immediate thought was 'someone who, if local, should know better to go near the seal colony as they would be protective of pups at this time of year....' If not local.........what an idiot for not checking with someone before venturing onto the beaches 
. Or at the very least to be observant and recognise that getting too close would likely be a problem!!!
