Nice grooming series.

I'm not sure if the front legs are out of focus because they are outside of the DoF or because they are moving so fast. That's one of the advantages of using flash of course, because if flash is the dominant light source then the flash duration is the effective shutter speed, which for example I think is around 1/2500 sec at most for the flash I use.

That was from movement speed. Using flash wouldn't have got the sequence with the pop up flash recycle time.

I use the flash occasionally, depending on the light outside, the pop up flash and home made diffuser are a little awkward.

This is like a portrait of a model taken in harsh direct overhead sunlight its not the most flattering light to use. You make the choice of how you shoot.

I'm thinking about getting an off camera flash this weekend anyway, so I will be looking at bracket arms to hold flashes in different positions for handheld portraits too.
