Near Ripon, N.Yorks. Its the shot everyone gets when they go there so if you cant beat em...Not sure if I should crop out the right hand smudgey wall?

Looks fine, a wee bit more contrast maybe. Don't crop the right hand top corner. Distort the image and just move it out of shot, likewise the foremost pillar. Just stretch it straight.

I have no idea how to distort and stretch. I only have LR5 so quite restricted with editing.

where about is it as were coming down to York in the summer for a break
 
Yes, just outside Ripon. Probably about 40 minutes from York through country roads.
