Four-spotted chaser (I believe)

I've spotted a few of these at our local nature reserve recently, mostly in the shape of an orange blur whizzing on past! I saw shadows of a couple of them on the water this morning and finally managed to track a stationary one down for just long enough...

I don't have a dedicated macro lens at the moment so took this with my trusty 200-500. Having seen some of the amazing close up stuff on here recently I may well be investing in one sooner rather than later!

When the dedicated lens will go over the counter,
just make sure it is no shorter than 105 mm! :cool:

Thanks Daniel,

I'm using an 85mm with extension tubes at the mo for close up stuff (when I'm not using the long lens). It'll definitely be 100mm+, but that's one for another thread in the equipment section when the time comes... :)
