I simply can't do nightshoots and my day job,so getting an image of this years batch of cubs has been let us say hard won. I guess fox has been coming here for 'alf a dozen years now , scavenging bird food.

Image taken whilst lying just inside me front door.cub maybe 6-7 yards away lol for anyone that read the camo thread I've drped a bit of army scrim over me'ead ,to break eye contact and white face. these foxes are sketchier than a cat on hot brix. So to have the door open with shutter noise makes the game somewhat hard. I doubt there will be many frames this year nice to snag a few though Here's one:

There is always one blade of grass isn't there

Crit welcome 400mm no crop

cheers for looking

Ahh Buddy, lovely to see Stu. He was close.

I will offer some crit as you ask, subjectively of course. :coat:

The DOF was very shallow, I'm wondering what F-stop you were at? It's sharp where it should be though.

It's a little on the cool side, on my monitor. I think you could tweak the yellows a little to make it just a tad warmer. This should brighten it a little too.

It's lovely Stu, I'd be happy with that if it were mine as is. (y)

I couldn`t live with those blades of Grass , sorry Stu . Get the shears out and try again . ;)
Fox left I walked over and pulled it Mark and whilst walking back quietly sreamed at me for not clocking it earlier.that said I keep the garden rough, i like it that way I get so many beasties and image wise it doesn't really look like a garden image..pros and cons I guess buddy :D Cheers for the comment I did mess about with cloning but as you so rightly say maybe there will be another chance, daylight door open is really hard Mark really hard Cheers for the comment hoping things are ok with ya buddy

Stu this would be greatly improved if you cut your grass, then you would not have that annoying blade there!!
Seriously, lovely shot. Sometimes I think that little bit of imperfection actually improves a shot and reflects real life!
Is it a bit dark? Could it do with a wee boost to lighten and brighten?( I am looking at it on an iPad not a calibrated screen)

He got a hall of alot closer Dale.hmm probably she actually mate, but I'm not 100 % yet. We have 2 at least right now.

Crit all valid f4 bro.............let me explain my presentation and F.f is simply trying to keep SS up, although with hindsight even though it was really gloomy and dark I could have pushed everything harder.......... My error was using auto ISO and not taking a couple of snaps to weigh up where the ISO was falling...........I then could have upped SS and f.but F this close doesn't change so much.tis siimply too big too long and too close for where my lens's sweet spot is.........but there isn't a much further back option in the garden...probaly be much better off with a 200-70 f2.8 here( I so want one of those mate ) foxy is also very tight in frame, is what it is I guess

Colour is deliberate..it was so dull Dale I was trying to keep to what I saw, actually pulled yellows and greens back pre going into PSCC.............really hard to assimialte which way to go, but you make fair points buddy good crit bro nail on head(y)

Fatastic shot, forget the grass the little sods always do that in my garden. It's as if they think they can hide behind them/
Lovely crisp capture of my favourite wildlife.

I know John but as per comment to Mark above would all this happen if the place wasn't owned by a ruffian? In the dead of the night a few days back shaz was in stitches watching this kidlet play with a hodgeheg. It didn't hurt it just kept bouncing real close to it. 2 night back we were trying for hog fox combo shot . which I haven't the tools to aquire, was too dark without lights set up
it was fun

But then wildlife toogin' isn't only about me trying so so desparately to get me fupect image..it's about the sheer joy of the beasties.

Tis my soul food mate, while I try to keep us a float in a harsh world . I miss so much of what happens at my own front door it's unreal, but I get told of the GWS feeding kids and fighting and I see her eye's light up. This quiet stuff keep my head straight

Yes dark John yes colours muted, trying to be true to life. I s'pose that's where artistic liscense comes in .but i don't really know whether I make the best choices just the joy outweighs the pain

the bits of my life i remember are these fleeting incidents bro, that's ok isn't it:)

Sorry so late in thanks Chris...simply ran off to watch footy. It's a really interesting comment buddy I have images of what I think are deer using cover to approach me VERY close like they are hiding so could/ would charlie do that as well?

As an aside there was a brief period mentioned above in lockdown when for a while I really focused on toggin in my garden primary subject above IE charlie fox. Whilst looking for some large blue butterfly images related to another thread I came across what I did back then, hmmm it's a bit of a shock !!
