I was invited along to a 4th round match in the French Cup on Saturday afternoon. A local club of departmental 'wanabees' managed to get through to the dizzy heights and wanted the moment captured for posterity. There are a couple of nice touches when a team of Sunday warriors progress this far into the tournament....the French FA present them with a commemorative strip and the little guys get to choose the venue....a chance to play in a decent stadium or bring the big boys to their humble ground.
They invoked home advantage and it nearly paid off.......in pouring rain and gale force winds, it was 2-2 at the end of the match and they succombed 10-9 after penalties...(wannabees in white)

You got to love grassroots football. Great set and the top one is a cracker.
Cheers Andrew.....
I do love the grassroots game. A free coffee at half tine and players who take the time to come and thank you at the final whistle.
A week later and it's still raining so the pitch hasn't been mowed....enthusiasm amongst the dandelions is unabated!
