The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Love this! Muted colours, works for me. Good effort
Thanks, Nick! I admit I generally love muted colours too and use Classic Chrome a lot. This shot however, didn't need it and is pretty much just how I saw it [emoji4]

Unboxed and had a play on my first Fuji Camera (XT-20). So far, love it, although it will take some getting used to coming from a Canon 70D. I hope it will be ok coming up with the occasional question in here (simple ones most likely).

Now going to carry on reading back through some of these pages. Also thinking about a grip but the Fuji one seems a bit pricey at the moment.

Looking forward to getting out with it over the weekend & hopefully get some nice weather for once.
welcome to the world of fuji matt :)) i also switched from a 70D to fuji and best move ever i love everything about the x series cameras and lenses....enjoy

Thank you. Haven’t been out of the house with it yet and any time I’ve got the chance to play with it, is after work with no natural light.

Already, I’m starting to love it. Just messing about taking pics of the dog :D. I sometimes like to take action shots of the dog so wondering how it will cope with that?

The build quality of the Camera and lens is very impressive.

I`d say, if it can handle an airshow then dogs running about will be easy

Apart from the XF90 f/2 portrait lens, does anyone know of any other portrait lenses out there to look at around the 90mm/100mm lens length, or slightly longer..??

I already own the XF56 and XF55-200mm, wondering if Leica or Voightlander or any other portrait lens to have a look at for the X system etc..??
Any thoughts/experience/advice appreciated.

Thanks;
Peter

Nikon 105 F2 DC is a specialist portrait lens. Can manual focus with an adapter.
90/2 images I have seen on here have been superb. (and autofocus to boot)

Holy Moly, Ian this is simply fantastic...!!!! No other words for it. What a great body & lens set-up. Brilliant photography Sir!

Regards;
Peter
Thank you Peter, that's very nice of you. No special kit - XT1 and 16-50 zoom. Three handheld shots HDR blended in Lr then a basic set of Lr corrections and a mix of four filters in Color Efex Pro. The shot looked OK after the Lr edit but as usual I went a bit heavy handed in CEP. I would probably now do an 80:20 mix of the CEP:Lr versions.

I actually went out for a shot of the Walkie Talkie building on the opposite bank. It looked OK as the sunset was decent but remembered the old adage to always look behind you if the light is good and this was my reward.

Just spent 5 days in Glencoe, weather wet and misty.Never got to see any mountain tops.Lucky a live nearby, so will try again soon.pics taken with Fuji XT2 and 10-24.

Compositions look good, shame about the cloud cover! Where abouts you from if you're local? Not many Fuji users that I know of round these parts lol (by which I mean West Coast Scotland!)

Quite a ghostly looking shot Graham, nice one :)

Thanks Dave

Always a classic! Very nice.

Cheers David really need one of those damp foggy nights you mentioned in the past.

Very nice. If it is processed much it is delicately done and if not the exposure was very well handled.

Thanks Ian it was actually a 5 shots merged in LR then converted in Silver Efex and finally finished in LR

This is a lovely shot Ian.

I've an ancient Jupiter 11 135/f4 that takes lovely portrait shots if you don't mind manual focus. Mine is M42 fit and with an adapter looks hideous on the modern body but I like the pics it delivers:

Still going through some stuff from Northumberland

Fuji X-T2 & 16-55

Very nicely done. Don't see it from side too often so nice to see it done a little differently. I had a plod up there just before new year on evening in blue hour. Was so windy that I couldn't stand the tripod up! I took one exposure where I was pushing all my weight down onto the tripod to try to keep it steady and failed and plodded back to the car. The access road is not too great these days is it!

The quality of the shots in this thread is pretty damned good (except mine of course!).

Cheers Graham I got a couple looking the other way personally I preferred this way. I had heard some horror stories about the access road so I left the car on the grass verge on the main rd.

Pleased to say my 10-24 zoom arrived this week, got the best price from Selfridges of all places, just have to remember to claim the double cashback now... Hoping to give it a run out this weekend.

This picture is a bit more abstract than my usual offerings. I would like to have tried it at f/8 and a longer exposure, but the pavement was only about a foot wide and the road quite busy. If anyone knows what these things actually are, do comment! :)

Random guess but bird hides ? Would have made for an excellent, minimal long exposure...

Lamb creeps - feed in the bins, the lambs can get in under the other side. Obviously they have had a bit of rain in that neck of the woods - or on the hills nearby.

Bit more flooding, this time in a different location, one well known to Graham. I thought this would be a colour shot as there were some nice pink clouds in the sky, reflected in the water, but actually there were too many colours and it came together better in mono. It also confirmed my suspicion from Wales that my right wellie had a leak (since replaced!). :)

Nice Fujigraph Sir, with a good bit of mono PP work giving a full range of punchy tones.(y)

"Hope you don't mind me saying, but although the basic composition is good I do think the top of the trees could do with a bit more space above them in the frame"

Thanks for the thought, George, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I was going for a square crop, which works better for me kept tight, but your comment made me try a vertical 5:4 to get a bit more air around the trees. Something like this?
