I thought I'd see if anyone here has the vaguest interest in fungi, and Australian fungi at that. These were taken on an afternoon stroll in Nightcap NP in NE NSW. I have many thousands of photos similar to these, of a huge variety of different fungi. It is a very specialist hobby but people are getting to like it more and more, to the point where you may have seen them on David Attenborough's Planet Earth II

Mmm. Half the pictures don't appear, yet they are there under edit????

This is such a cool set… (y)(y)(y)

I see them all, love 1 & 4 but would have had to brush the leaf off of 4. :)
I used to try to always remove leaves, but sometimes it can look worse without. In this case the leaf was stuck on, so no option really. Here's one that I think is improved by a leaf.

Thanks Kodiak, you tempt me to post more.

I particularly like the 4th one. Lots of lovely colours on that one!! I don't think there are many interesting fungi in the UK but I could be wrong. Here's one I saw a while back. Don't know what it was

I don't know either. I think you'll find that there are lots of interesting fungi in the UK. Perhaps there are fewer old-growth forests, which are the best for fungi, but there are still many undocumented species in the UK. and many active fungi hunters.

These are defintely interesting, and also quite atmospheric, rather than simply being record shots. (y)

Nice work mate I like them.

Very nice indeed, may I suggest that names would be helpful.

I didn't think you guys would care about names. I do have names for them, though often only to genus. This is partly because I am not a taxonomist and partly because many Australian fungi haven't been identified.
The first is 2 species of Marasmius, the second is a Trogia, the third a Xylaraia, the fourth a Trametes, the fifth maybe Podoscypha petaloides and last in Coprinellus radians group.
Sorry for being lazy

Thank you, Steve, perhaps we might see some more fungi images plus names from more photographers.

That is possibly Shaggy Pholiota (pholiota sqarrosa) which is edible but never use an ID like this to eat any mushroom (I Id'd it with one of my books not on the web)

There are many lovely mushrooms worth shooting in the UK.

Thanks for the identification @alfbranch. Bollygums pictures are particularly interesting!! I need to look out for mushrooms and take pictures when I next come across them here in the UK. Have you come across any that are particularly dangerous?

Some mushrooms can be deadly if eaten in quantity, but I don't think you you can come to much harm by touching them, licking them or sniffing them and certainly not by photographing them.

All true.

Really like the pov in #2. Really alien world look.

Great images, I've never seen anything like these when shooting in the woods.

I love that first photograph. Those small mushrooms in front of the one larger one totally make this shot. Very well composed.
And the last one of the mushroom pushing out of the wood is also a winner; that mushroom is showing a true determination to overcome all odds. ;-)

Very nice, were these taken by stacking? Although I guess the lighting is also an important part of this.
