I photographed this yesterday. I read it was also called the Cross Orb-Weaver. Taken with the Canon 100mm Macro lens on a 5D11. It was behind our garden shed with one end of the web attached to the shed so no room to get behind it but this underside view shows the prey which it has in its mouth.

Thanks, Alby. I didn't realise it was 'spider time'. I thought spider time was all year round. Live and learn, as they say.
Well house spiders tend to move a bit more at this time of year which upsets archnaphobes - they are harmless.
