I'm trying to ensure that I'm making most of my Pro1000 so in the process of of building profiles for paper that I have... But.

I struggle with when telling the printer what type of paper I'm using, how do I determine a suitable match for said paper, is it glossy, matt, lustre, fine art, heavy medium etc etc...

I use Fotospeed papers, and they don't give any information on best paper settings for each of their paper..

So is there any hints tips, youtube website that will help with fathoming this out a lot better.

Yes I'm profiling myself, have the Spyder Studio kit for my monitor and print.

I currently have Fotospeed

Platinum Baryta 300
Metallic Lusture 275
Platinum Cotton 305

And i do have their Pamo test pack

I do also have the Print Studio Pro plug in, but so far a couple of hitches using it, as it doesn't always change the settings on the printer.... Could be its not too happy working with Cantolina not sure on that one.

I'm on Windows, so don't know about the Plug In not working, so far I've profiled

Platinum Baryta 300 - very pleased with this one, images look great
Matt Ultra 240 - much better images than my previous Pro-100 printer
Platinum Cotton 305
Legacy Gloss - only done a B+W profile for this one.

Before I bought the printer I had a long chat with a Canon Printing Specialist at the Photo Show, he said that it was always best to print with Print Studio Pro, as it accessed the printer driver at a low level and gave better results. I've certainly not had any complaints and my current output (especially mono's) is much better than my previous Canon Pro-100

Whenever I’ve purchased non-Canon paper there has always been an insert telling me which media type I should use for my printer e.g. glossy II etc. (Which is what I think you’re asking about).

Is there more info on their website? If not, I’d drop them an email.

Thank for the lik bebop, I did look both in the box's and did look at the fotospee website, haven't see anything in the box even though it has the details of sending off for profiling, but the your link explains all :)

Originally I was going to wait before ordering to have a chat with the Canon lot at the photography show, but when it came apparent that it was likely going to be cancelled. I decided just o get on with it..

But will have another look at the pro stuido plug in and see if there's something I've missed.
