Good birding locations is south Essex?

Hello everyone!

Does anybody know of any good locations for photographing birds in south Essex, around the Rayleigh/Leigh on sea area?


I'm dying to get out there and play with my new gear but I don't know where to go! (Only lived here a year) I'm thinking grebes and kingfishers and anything more interesting than mallards and moorhens!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Check out RSPB Rainham Marshes

No idea about key species but the website should update you?

Rainham marshes are a good bet, my brother spends a lot of time there, there's loads of wildlife around.

We visit Rainham Marshes a couple of times a year. Huge site, lots of walking, but lots of species too. Not a too bad coffee shop either.
