I don't know your setup but I see the result
is not revealing an appealing image, Robert,
because of the burnt Sun!

I get what Kodiak is saying - looks like too much highlight recovery used & it's made the disc of the sun turn grey. Better to let it blow and retain sparkly highlights in a sunset image.

Nice intent with the image. :)
 
Sun is not dark grey. I wouldn't have much problem if it was left pure white, particularly if it was smaller in the frame. Its a difficult shot to execute because almost all digital cameras have nowhere near to do it in a single frame. You could instead take 3 and blend it manually, but even that is not easy to to get natural looking result.
 
The sun was completely blown out on this and there is nothing I can do to improve it , how about this one though?DSC00317.jpg
