Only if you try and pick them up, as a defence, they eject a rotting fish type smell and play dead,

Nice capture- it's always hard to get a Grass or any other snake as you'll always loose the majority of the reptile, owing to their length

Lovely detail in the head and eye.

I haven't seen a grassy for years, don't know if they're in decline or I just don't frequent the right spots anymore. I used to see them mostly when fishing, but I packed in fishing years ago (for golf and photography). I remember one swimming out from between my feet once, gave me the fright of my life. It was cool to see them swim though.
