This is the first time I've had the drop on a Grey Heron and managed to close the range sufficiently to get shots I am happy with.

It didn't move much to allow me much variation but here are a few:

Herons seem to either stand stock still or fly off when you see them ... both giving good photo opportunities

Thanks, gramps. He did indeed stay very still. The moment he flew off was the moment a chap grounded his outboard motor which made me turn my head, so I missed the moment sadly.
