Hardknott Roman Fort

Mono can be difficult to get right with some landscapes. I think this is especially so when faced with snowy mountains and a dull sky that is not particularly spectacular thereby causing the land and sky tend to merge together. Perhaps dramatising the sky with more contrast could help.

Let me say that at this size I am essentially noticing the stones {wall} and then that bright cloudy sky bit. I'm guessing they are not really the intended subject, but I am only glancing at the mountain range as an afterthought and they are just too narrow and distant to form a lasting impression. You really need to make them bigger and more prominent by changing vantage point and relegate that foreground to the second role.
Probably this would be more successful in colour even if there isn't much of it.
