A retired steel worker, with a passion for birds, created for them a
sanctuary on his property. Not only storks but herons an others too.

That day, two birds were released by the vet. Young enough to hope
for a new life after traffic accidents, impact with high wires or power
lines etc.

I had a chance to take them before they took off…

Lovely looking birds. I don't know any other birds in the UK of that type other than the heron and the egret - well that's all I've seen anyway.

The black stork was shot too early, the high fog dulled the light
and that muted the beautiful iridescent green off the feathers.

The second suffered less from the still too soft light.

The "échassiers" in French, I think waders in English group long
legged birds. Some may be small, others big, but always with long,
disproportionate legs.
