They are buggers for hiding their face, these and a few other critters are alike.

Pity about the OOF stem on the right, but given your description of events it is understandable - it is a cracking shot.

Dragonflies just see far too well; getting an advantage over them is very difficult, but if your normal prey is something like a housefly then humans are no challenge.
