Nice collection from your day out. The bird is a Lapwing,also known as a Peewit.

You've got a few technical issues with the images. Your shutter speed is far too slow for the focal length that you are using (1/125th - 1/200th @ 400mm)
which is causing motion blur from both the subjects' movement and camera shake. The D500 can take much higher ISO than 250, so bump it up.
That'll also help with the underexposure across all the images.

I also suspect that your focus is a bit off, but that's hard to be certain about with the motion blur.
